Medical Cum Awareness Camp / Mela

Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU), Water and Sanitation Support Organisation (WSSO) Department of PHE, I&FC organised one day Medical cum Awareness Camp / Mela at Sungal Akhnoor Jammu. The aim of the programme was to reach door steps of the people and educate them about safe drinking water and awareness regarding communicable and non communicable disease among the population.
The programme was organised at Primary Health Centre Sungal, Akhnoor in collaboration with Block Medical officer Akhnoor and Professor Dushyant Rampal Memorial Trust Channi Himmat Jammu (NGO).
The programme was flagged off by Professor Vinay K. Rampal in presence of Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sharma BMO Akhnoor and Executive Director CCDU Dr. Narindar Bhatial.
During the camp 260 patients were screened for diabetics and hypertension in addition to distributing free medicines to the general public.
The medical camp comprised of Professor Vinyal Rampal, (Physican) Dr. S. S. Padha (Orthopaedic Surgeon), Dr. Lalit Andotra ( General Surgeon), Dr. Pradeep Sharma, Dr. P. R. Sharma, Dr. Sonia Sharma assisted by Mr. B. B. Gupta treasure officer of NGO, Sunial Sharma (Lab Management), Neelam Sharma (Manager).
During the programme a cultural activity by New Sargam Social & Cultural Club, Samba was also arranged for the general public on the theme of water and sanitation and also use of water and how to Test Water with FTK’s were exhibited. Whereas Hand Wash technique was demonstrated by ASHA workers of Health Department.
Executive Director CCDU stressed upon testing the water from the source and maintain proper sanitation around the water sources in the villages, and play a major role in fight against open defecation. He further said that such programme shall be continued with the help of health Department as people participation is must and they have to come forward and make state free from open defection and use water judiciously.
