PHE Minister Sham Lal Chaudhary flagged off Biggest CCDU Jammu RUN
JAMMU, 1st December -2015
Jammu 15th January: The “BIG Jammu Run - Run to save water” is an initiative of CCDU and organized through 92.7 Big FM, which was being celebrated for over a month with an extensive awareness programme. The BIG FM RJs along with experts from PHE Department had been visiting different schools, colleges, Malls etc in and around Jammu to create awareness and sensitization for the same. The message being given through this Run was “Save Water”. The bigger idea is we need to start with ourselves to make contribution in any regard including the conservation of water and water bodies.
5 KM run was to promote this particular cause in which around above 5000 people including the Indian Army, Air Force, BSF, CRPF, JKP, IRP, professional runners, sports persons, corporate employees, senior citizens, school and college students took part.
Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham lal Chaudhary was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He said that it is moral and social responsibility of every citizen to save water for future generations and use water judiciously. He further said that people’s participation is must & we should come together and make a sincere effort that all sources of water be kept clean and clean drinking water provided by the Department be judiciously used. He further appealed to the Jammuites to not just limit their pledge of saving water within Gulshan Ground but to make it a part of their lifestyle and daily routine.
Hon’ble MOS for PHE/ I&FC Syed Farooq Ahmed Andrabi was also present on the occasion. Sanjeev Verma, IAS Commissioner Secretary of PHE/I&FC Department, Er. Rajeev Malhotra Executive Director CCDU, Sh. Mahesh Dass, Director Finance PHE/ I&FC, Er. H C Jerath. Chief Engineer RTIC, Sh. Sushil Aima Chief Engineer PHE Jammu, Er. R. K. Gandotra Chief Engineer I&FC Jammu, and Syed Mujtaba Ali Jaffery, Cluster Head J&K and Punjab, BIG FM 92.7 and other staff of PHE, I&FC department and 92.7 Big FM were also present
Dangal girl Zaira Wasim was also there to support the campaign. Addressing the participants, Zaira said, "I am really excited, keen and proud to be a part of the “BIG Jammu Run. It is a noble initiative by 92.7 BIG FM and CCDU, Department of PHE and I applaud them for regularly taking an active interest in the betterment of society. I am honoured to support the cause”.
Before the run was flagged off by the PHE Minister Sham Lal Chaudhary in presences of Syed Farooq Ahmed Andrabi and Zaira Wasim, all the participants took pledge to work towards ‘Save Water’ and encourage others also to do the same.
A lucky draw was also held and were given to the lucky winners.
Zumba performances by ‘Shape n Smile’ and ‘Body Engineers Fitness Centre’; Musical performances by ‘Tansen Sangeet Mahavidyalaya’; Thematic Street plays by ‘Rangyug- a Theatre Group for Social Change’ and students of ‘Jodhamal Public School’ set the chord right for the objective of the run and adding to the entertainment quotient in their fun and energetic style, RJs of BIG FM RJ Juhie and RJ Manas put up a great show.
