CCDU organised workshop and interaction session on Water Sanitation & Hygiene

Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU), Water and Sanitation Support Organisation (WSSO) Department of PHE, I&FC organised one day workshop and interaction session on Water Sanitation & Hygiene. The aim of the programme was capacity building of general masses in regard with Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (W.A.S.H).
The programme was organised at Instituting of Engineering, Channi Himmat Dr. Narinder Bhatial Executive Director, CCDU in his welcome address gave an introduction on the objectives of the workshop; i.e. to develop a team of promoters contributing in the field of W.A.S.H and taking out time from their daily routines for the cause. It’s an endeavour essential for improving living conditions and quality of life; and should always a priority for communities. He further said that empowering young as promoters in the field of W.A.S.H is must for sustainable change and stressed that every citizen has to come forward to make our state free from open defecation and use water judiciously.
CCDU which has a mandate of awareness and capacity building of general masses in regard with water, sanitation and Hygiene shall empower the youth as promoters. In this connection a youth conference of over four hundred urban and rural students coming from different schools from various districts shall be organized – JAL SANRAKSHAN JAGRUKTA ABHIYAN. The idea is to extract fresh perspectives and find innovative solutions, in regard with the challenges faced by the districts as well as the state and produce the promoters of water sanitation and hygiene as “Swacchta Dooths”.
The interactive session was highly intellectual and solutions to many day to day problems related to WASH were discussed. Guests from various sectors enthusiastically put forward their points and freely gave their opinions. Even the students chipped in with their suggestions, one student innocently complaining about an incident when he was snubbed for telling someone to not to waste water while washing his car. The discussion was very healthy and everyone signed a pledge in the end promising to take keen interest and voluntare working in their capacity for WASH.
On the occasion O.P. Dubey Chief Engineer (Retd) PHE, K.K. Badyal Technical Officer PHE Jammu, Rajiv Khajuria Chief Functionary of NDF, Sidharth Arora form 92.7 Big Fm, Advocate Monika Kohli, Rohan Bhatial as youth icon expressed their ideas and views during the workshop.
The programme was attended by distinguished guest from department of PHE, High Court Advocates, NGO’s of Jammu Division, Sh. Mohinder Manhas Sectary of Institute of Engineering Jammu, Media persons, Area Manager Big F.M 92.7, Chief Engineer NHPC, the members of J&K Ex Service League, representative of corporate sector, Teachers and Students of Heritage and Jodhamal Public School Jammu and the Staff of Institute of Engineering Jammu Channi Himmat.
